Obituary for Kenneth Royce Smith

Kenneth Royce Smith of Bremen passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018. He was born in Bremen, June 9, 1947, son of the late Elmer Burns Smith and Elsie King Smith. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bremen and a veteran of the U. S. Army 101st Airborne Division, having received the Purple Heart. Kenneth was a self-employed Residential Builder and served as a Haralson County Commissioner, a councilman for the city of Bremen, an engineer at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Morrow.

Survivors include his wife, Aletha Driskell Smith; children, Allen Smith and Brittney Mickle Ken and Chrissy Smith, Brandon and Brittany Smith; grandchildren, Breigh Smith, Blake Smith, Kenzlie Radcliff, Kaelynn Smith, McKenzie Smith, Kason Mickle, Alivia Smith, Caden Truett, Ryan Smith, Anna Klaire Smith and Libby Truett; sister and 2 brother-in-laws, Janis and Gordon Parrish, Jimmy Morrow and a number of loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM

Services will be Saturday, November 3 at 1:00 PM at the Branham Hall of Bremen United Methodist Church with Reverend Wayne Monroe and Reverend Stacey Hanson officiating. Music will be furnished by Chrissy Smith, Jarred Stevens, Ricky Shirley and Tara Chapman. Pallbearers will be Kyle Williamson, Jay Rogers, Kelley Pollard, Brian Parrish, Caleb Williamson, John Stanford, Timmy Driskell, and Dustin Davis. The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers, members of the Haralson County GOP and Senator Bill Heath, Fred Koone, Max Goldin, Richard Hightower, Freddie Witcher, Max Witcher, Ricky Austin, Danny King, Waid Jones, Mike Murphy, Bruce King, Jim Carden and Robert Whitlock. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Reverend Bill Tidwell officiating. Military honors will be furnished by the U. S. Army and Steve Thrasher will be playing the bagpipe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bremen First United Methodist Church.
