Life Legacy


Mrs. Jessie Joyner,age 96 of the Tyus community passed away March 17, 2013. She born August 26, 1916 in the Tyus Community. Daughter of Mrs. Beatrice and Mr. Lemuel Bailey. Married to Lloyd Joyner in 1935, who preceded her in death. They were married 57 years. She was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Jason Joyner, six brothers, and six sisters. Survivors include 2 sons and daughters in law, Jack and Judy Joyner of Tyus community and Lynn and Lucy Joyner also of the Tyus community, 1 daughter and son in law, Beatrice and G.W. Burson of the Tyus community. She had five grandchildren, Mark and Donna Joyner, Debbie and Tony Lovvorn, Robbie Burson, April Burson, and Justin and Megan Joyner, seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Joyner loved gospel music. She read her Bible daily and lived by the Word. She always had a smile for all those she met and loved everyone. She was a very outgoing lady, full of life and loved to talk. She attended the Senior Center in Carrollton. She was the oldest member of Tyus Baptist Church since she joined in 1927. She taught Sunday school for 46 years and was pianist for 59 years. She was the assistant pianist at the time of her death. She lived on the farm in the Tyus Community where she was born all of her 96 years. She will greatly be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tyus Baptist Church Building Fund.
