Biography

Mrs. Mary June Murphy-Oxendine, 54 of Waddell Street, Bremen passed away on July 27, 2010 after a long struggle with cancer.

Mary was born on June 1, 1956 in Haralson County, Georgia, the youngest daughter of former House Speaker Thomas B. Murphy and Agnes Bennett Murphy.

She was retired from the Bremen School System where she was the much-beloved teacher of Georgia Studies in Sewell Middle School. Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bremen.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Frederick Oxendine.

Survivors include her brother, Michael L. Murphy and his wife, Carol Murphy; her sisters, Martha Murhy-Long and Lynn Murphy-McAdams and her husband, Kenneth McAdams; step-son and step-daughter, Wyatt & Ivy Oxendine; nieces, Lauren Murphy Ray, Holly Long Otwell and Lindsey Michael McAdams; nephews, Matthew Chad Long and David B. McBrayer; great nieces, Martha Grace Otwell and Murphy Ray; great-nephews, Hunter Perkins, D.J. McBrayer, Matthew McBrayer, Ty Otwell and Thomas Ray.

Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 11 am from Branham Hall at First United Methodist Church of Bremen with Reverend Wayne Monroe, Reverend Keith Moore and Reverend John Huggins officiating. Cyndie Sewell Morris, Diane Bullard and Scott Hodges will be speaking. Ezra Jones, Joe Chandler, Chris O’Neal, Tony Armas, Scott Hodges and Larry Weathington will serve as pallbearers.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
