Donald Kerry Godbee, Sr., age 74, of Carrollton, Ga., passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, following a long illness. He is survived by his son, Donald Kerry Godbee, Jr., of Carrollton, and his daughter, Deborah Godbee Bolding of Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; five grandchildren: Amanda, Amber and Steve Godbee; Bill and Morgan Bolding; and one great grandson, Everett Dewberry. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Nan) Delano Godbee, of Ipswich, Mass., and his sister-in-law and her family, Mr. and Mrs. (Martha Parker) Duane McBrayer of Bremen, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Parker Godbee, whom he married in 1957; his parents, Lorin Kerry Godbee and Dorothy Broome Godbee, and his brother, James Richard Godbee.
Mr. Godbee was born on December 6, 1935, in Carrollton, Ga. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked on the U-2 spy plane during his service. He retired from Trent Tube, a Division of Colt Industries. He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church in Carrollton. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and dogs, as well as fishing, and helping with the horses on his son Kerry’s farm.
A private family memorial service is planned. Those wishing to make a donation in Mr. Godbee’s memory may do so to the charity of their choice.
