Life Legacy
Mrs. Dorothy Louise Redding Hitchcock, 81 of Morgan Road, Bremen passed away June 28, 2010.
Mrs. Hitchcock was born in Carroll County, Georgia on July 21, 1928 the daughter of the late Guy F. Redding, Sr and Oma Dewberry Redding.
She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Bremen for most of her life. She worked for Sewell Manufacturing Company in Bremen for approximately 40 years. She was an avid music lover, she was known for her rich and almost perfect alto voice and could read “shaped note” music at an early age. She passed down her knowledge and love of this style of music to her son Ronnie. This is a dying art and style of music that Ronnie and others in the local area are committed to keeping alive for as long as possible. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Cliett Hitchcock on March 17, 2008; sisters, Nellie Stanford and Lucille Long.
She is survived by her only child, Ronnie C. Hitchcock of Bremen; grandson and his wife, Blake & Christy Hitchcock of Bremen; great-granddaughters, Gracie & Shelby Hitchcock of Bremen; sisters, Mary Jones of Marietta, Ruth Richards of Bremen, Irene Morrow of Temple and Estelle & Bill Hamil of Warner Robins, brothers, Guy F. Redding, Jr of Bremen, Gerald Lee & JoAnn Redding of Bremen as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 between the hours of 5 & 8 pm.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 2 pm from Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend John Lemmings, Dr. J. Howard Mills and Reverend Guy F. Redding, Jr officiating. Music will be provided by Ronnie Hitchcock,Maxine House, Joel, Brenda, Cara and Billie Agan, Phillip and Faye Thornell and Allen Layton. Pam McElroy will be reading poem "I'm Right There In Your Heart". Lee Fulghum, Don Denney, Danny King, Randall Redding, Barry Redding, Scott Stanford and Steve Morrow will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
