Obituary for William S. "Stoney" Thompson

William S. “Stoney” Thompson, age 76 of Waco, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018. He was born in Buchanan, May 19, 1942, son of the late Marion Thompson and Dessie Clora Smith Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a hard worker and retired from the City of Bremen where he worked in maintenance for 27 years. Stoney had many friends everywhere, he met no strangers. He loved the Lord and his desire would to meet all his loved ones in Heaven.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tony Thompson; seven sisters, Vernie, Corene, Esther, Clara, Christine, Joyce and Donna Faye and three brothers, Alvin, Jack and an infant baby boy.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Dianne Brown Thompson of Waco; daughters, Shanta and Chris Skinner, Gray, Angie and Tim Costner,Dallas, Sibyl Newsom of Carrollton; sons, Chuck Newsom, Chris and Carey Newsom, both of Carrollton; nineteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren and two sisters, Peggy Ott of Mt. Zion and Mable Thompson of Mableton.
Services will be Tuesday at 11:30 AM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Milford Glass officiating. Chris Skinner, James Skinner, Chris Newsom, Brandon Newsom, Tim Costner, Chuck Newsom and Landon Bailey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Skinner and Justin Costner. Pastor Tommy Costner is in charge of the graveside services in Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
