Obituary for William E. 'Gene' Cook

William E. ‘Gene’ Cook of Bremen passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Haralson County, May 31, 1928, son of the late Lawrence Cook and Lucille Smith Cook. Mr. Cook was a graduate of Bremen High School and Auburn University. He was a member of the Bremen First United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the Sound Committee and a member of the Methodist Men. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Bremen Rotary Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Mark Cook.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jean McCoy Cook of Bremen; a daughter, Jeanna Laura Cook of Bremen and six nieces and four nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.

Services will be Wednesday, February 8 at 11:00 AM from the Bremen First United Methodist Church with Reverend Gerald Varner officiating. Mr. Jack Banks will present the Eulogy. Music will be furnished by Ann Hobbs, Sue Ezzell and Lynn Hodges. Members of the Rotary Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bremen First United Methodist Church Sound Committee.
