Obituary for Shirley Morris Lewis

Shirley Morris Lewis of Bremen passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 in a local hospital. She was born in Haralson County, April 27, 1937, daughter of the late Euel Morris and Nancy Shoemaker Morris. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She loved her family and working with her flowers and watching the hummingbirds. She, also, enjoyed playing the piano. Mrs. Lewis loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible every morning. She was a member of the Corner Stone Baptist Church in Waco and was a retired employee of the Sewell Manufacturing Company, having worked there most of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Morris and a grandson, Michael Lynn Agan.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Curtis L. Lewis of Bremen; a daughter, Nancy Kerr of Bremen; a step-daughter, Deborah and Hoyle Whitton of Bremen; a step-son, Curtis Lee ‘Junior’ Lewis of Temple; sisters, Nettie Johnson of Bremen, Charlene Burruss of Cumming, Ova Belle and Thomas Wray of Cedartown; brothers, Jimmy and Marie Morris of Jonesboro and Curtis Morris of Arizona; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren..

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.

Services will be Wednesday, December 14 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Todd Jones officiating. Ryan Robinson, Mark Ezzell, Danny Turner, Tommy Wray, Gerry Pounds and Phil Burruss will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Waco Cemetery.
