Obituary for Sarah Sallie Blue Stevens

‘Sarah’ Sallie B Blue Stevens, aged 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Sarah was born May 18, 1927, in Haralson County, Georgia, the daughter of Dave and Tennie (Jackson) Blue. On February 19, 1949 she married the love of her life, Charles Calvin Stevens and they spent many years raising their family while living in Smyrna, Georgia. After her husband passed away Sarah later returned home to Bremen, Georgia where she spend the later years of her life.
Sarah thoroughly enjoyed her family and was active with her local Church especially in her younger years. For many years she was a member of Spring Street Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia and during that time was active with the Women’s Missionary Circle, VBS, Youth, and outreach to the needy. In later years she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, both in Bremen, Georgia.
In addition to raising their four children she also was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
Sarah is survived by her sister, Shirley Thompson; sister-in-law, Dot Stevens; her four children; son, J.C (Becky) Stevens of Manchester, KY; daughter, Marilyn (Jim) Barker of DeBary, FL; daughter, Cathy (Pete) Lawrence of Acworth, GA; and son, Donald (Heidi) Stevens of Bowdon, GA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Lynn Stevens Hawkins, Melonie Stevens Phillips, Kenath Stevens, Kennon Barker, Charley Barker, Ben Barker, Sherri Lawrence Lindsey, Beth Anne Lawrence Cochran, Michael Lawrence, Gerald Stevens, and Kim Stevens. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, February 27 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home, Bremen with J.C. Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, February 26 at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the Mountain View Cemetery, Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, Georgia.
