Obituary for Evelyn Deese Benefield

Evelyn Deese Benefield of Waco passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in a local hospital. She was born in Ranburne, Alabama, September 17, 1926, daughter of the late William Deese and Addie Mae Stapler Deese. Mrs. Benefield was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and a retired employee of Comer Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilson Benefield; a sister, Opal Blackmon; a grandson, Corey Hammonds and a son-in-law, Ray Driver.

Survivors include five children, Brenda Robles of Waco, Jeanette and Dave Metalski of Mount Zion,
Sarah and Jeff Stitcher of Bremen, Rachel and James Hammonds of Bowdon, Curtis and Sandra Benefield of Waco; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Mae and Winford Smith of Bowdon, Lois Granger, Bowdon, Alice Smith of Carrollton and two brothers, Jay Deese of Carrollton and Bruce and Diane Deese of Carrollton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 until 8 PM.

Services will be Thursday, July 20 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Braswell officiating. Music will be furnished by Becky Ellington. Matt Metalski, Jeremy Smith, Jason Lloyd, Marion Cook, Paul Rudisel and Alex Kendrick will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
