Obituary for Dollie Josephine Perkins

Dollie Josephine (Washington) Perkins, a longtime resident of Bremen, GA died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in her home.

Born August 29, 1944 to the late Margaret Washington, Dollie was raised in Temple. She attended elementary and middle school in Temple through eighth grade. She then attended high school at Carver High in Carrollton.

She married Herman Perkins, Jr. (T.J.) on December 30 1963. This union produced three children, Theresa Perkins, the late Ronald Perkins and Yolanda Perkins Smallwood (Levas).

At an early age, she became a member of New Canaan Baptist Church in Temple. After moving to Bremen in her late twenties, she became a member of Crawford Chapel United Methodist Church until her death. As a member of Crawford Chapel, she served in several capacities including treasurer and secretary. Additionally, she served on the finance committee, pastor parish committee and as president of the board.

As a seamstress, Dollie worked for twenty-five years at Sewell Manufacturing, Plant 3 in Bremen. Afterwards, she worked more than 13 years at Southwire in Carrollton.

Dollie Perkins was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Washington, two brothers, Robert and Anthony Washington, three sisters, Winner Woods, Allene Wilson and Jacqueline Dixon and one son, Ronald Perkins.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Theresa Perkins (Bremen) and Yolanda Smallwood (Levas), Mableton: nine sisters, Jean Wood (Detroit, MI), Shirley Crawford, Jo Ann Kemp (Calvin), Ruby Lee Howard (Andrew), Kathy Wynn (Robert), Linda Heflin, Betty Lay, Rebecca Price, Lisa Jones (Victor):
two brothers, Guy Shivers, Jr. (Americus) and Gregory Shivers (Catrice): four grandchildren, Tewanna Rolling (McEachern), Allen Buffington, Trinity and Talia Smallwood: four great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends
