Richard Hightower graduated from Bremen High School in 1955, West Georgia College in 1957and John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN, in1958. He returned to Bremen to assist his father in constructing the area's most modern funeral facility in 1960. In 1974, he master minded a major remodeling and chapel addition to the Martin & Hightower'sWest Center Street location in Carrollton. As business increased and taxed the capacity of the West Center Street location, in 1985 he built the Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on South Park Street as a second location. Richard Hightower was a state and national leader in the development of funeral service. He was selected to the Academy of Graduate Embalmers and served on its board for 12 years. He is a past president of the Academy. He served on the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service from 1990 to 1998, has served on the Board of Directors of Independent Funeral Directors, and is past president of Associated Funeral Directors Service.
Bill Hightower
Bill is a third-generation funeral director and embalmer. He lives in Bremen with his wife Susan. They have a daughter, Jacqueline and 3 sons, Chris Wright and Tyler and Ryan Smith. Bill is a graduate of Bremen High School and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. Bill competed with the Bremen Wrestling Team and won the State Championship during high school. Bill and his family are members of the Bremen First United Methodist Church. Bill and Susan own and operate Ambucare EMS in Haralson County. Ambucare is a certified EMS provider. Bill is very active in Bremen and Haralson County community service. Bill is a member of Bremen Rotary. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Haralson County Chamber of Commerce.
R. Bryant Hightower, Jr.
Bryant is a member of the Carrollton Rotary Club, past president of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers and past president of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, as well as past president of Carrollton jaycees and Carrollton Main Street. Bryant serves on the National Funeral Directors Association board as a regional representative. Bryant is also a member of DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team) which is a program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Bryant and his wife, Cathy have three children and are members of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Dennis House
Funeral Director
Dennis is a Bremen native and lives in Waco with his wife, Jeanene. They have two children, Courtney and Caleb. Dennis graduated from Haralson County High School in 1972, Carroll Technical Institute in 1972, Police Academy in 1978 and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1982. Dennis is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He and his family are members of the Cornerstone Baptist Chapel in Waco. Dennis enjoys fishing, hunting, camping and horseback ridding. Dennis and Jeanene own and operate D & J Granite Works specializing in granite monuments, markers and cemetery restoration.
Kyle Mayes

Kyle is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Kyle is a 2009 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta. He is a member of Mt. Holly Church of God. Kyle began his funeral service career right out of high school in 2006.
Kyle is a 2006 Honor Graduate of Bremen High School. He has lived in Bremen his entire life. His parents, David and Lisa also live in Bremen. His brother, Paul is in the U.S. military, and is currently employed by the Villa Rica Police Department.
Cindy McCorsley

Cindy is a native of Bremen and has been with Hightower Funeral Home since 1998. She is married to Josh McCorsley and has two sons, Will and Brett Kent. Cindy is a 1979 graduate of Bremen High School. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bremen. Cindy enjoys hiking and reading. Cindy has worked for Ambucare, EMS in Bremen (1997-1998) and Cosco, Inc. (1992-1997) and The Arrow Company (1979-1992).
L. Jean Jones
Greeter and Circle of Friends II Director Jean is a native of Bremen. She graduated from Waco High School in 1950. She has 3 children, Gregg Brown, Vicki Williamson and Jenny Poindexter. Jean attends the Bremen First Baptist Church where she is a member of the Golden Tones Choir. Jean serves on the Higgins Hospital Auxilary. She enjoys reading and serving families. Prior to coming to Hightower Funeral Home in 1974, Jean worked for the Warren Sewell Clothing company in the Purchasing Department. Jean is the director of the Circle of Friends II. Circle of Friends II is a support group for widowed ladies and is sponsored by Hightower Funeral Home. The group gathers on the 3rd Tuesday each month at the Family Care Center adjacent to Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen for a covered-dish supper and an uplifting program. The group takes a day trip and an over-night trip each year. Past travels have taken the group to Savannah, Pigeon Forge, Historic Social Circle and Covington. The group is open to widowed women.

Peggy grew up in Buchanan and moved to Bremen when she married Wallace Shepherd and the lived in Bremen for 30 years until moving back to Buchanan 8 years ago. Peggy is the Choir Director at West Georgia Worship Center and throughly enjoys music and serving the Lord. Peggy and Wallace have 3 children, Reggie (Tammie) Shepherd, Kyle (Susan) Shepherd and Deneen Parker; seven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Peggy came to work at Hightower's 2 years ago and assists with visitations and serving families in the Family Care Center adjacent to the funeral home.
Tyler Smith

Tyler grew up in Bremen and graduated from Bremen High School in 2006. While at Bremen High School Tyler was on the Wrestling Team having placed 3rd in State in the 2003-2004 season and 2nd in State in the 2005-2006 season. Tyler will attend West Central Technical College and plans to attend the John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tennessee. Tyler enjoys fishing and of course, wrestling. He plans to assist with the Bremen Wrestling Team in years to come. Tyler is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bremen.
Horry Johnson
Funeral Service Assistant Horry is a life-long resident of Carrollton where he lives with his wife Eunice. The Johnsons have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Horry graduated from Mt. Zion High School and West Georgia College. He is a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon and Cemetery Trustee and Care Keeper. He attends the Young at Heart Seniors class at Pleasant View. He is a member of the Carroll County Cattlemen's Association. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, raising beef cattle, gardening and buying real estate. Mr. Johnson is a Veteran of the United States Army. Before coming to work with Hightower Funeral Home, Mr. Johnson worked for Sewell Manufacturing Company, Aeroquip Corporation and Carroll County School System.
Charles Butch Young

Charles is a native of Rockmart and lives in Buchanan with his wife, Dodie. They have a daughter, Cindy (Chris) Bowling and a granddaughter, Shannon. Butch graduated from Rockmart High School in 1962. Butch and Dodie operated Young's Superette and Young's Draketown Superette for 20+ years following his 15 year career with Carroll EMC. Butch is a Certified National Geographic Assistant Instructor in Scuba Diving. Butch is a member of the Buchanan Lodge #78 F.& A.M. He enjoys being outdoors. Butch is a Baptist by faith.
Reverend Buddy Gentry
Funeral Service Assistant Brother Buddy is a lifelong resident of Buchanan, Georgia where he lives with his wife, Joan (White). Buddy and Joan have 3 children, Rhonda Turner, Todd Gentry and Carmi Ridley. They have 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Brother Buddy graduated from Buchanan High School in 1959. He is a true musician possessing the ability to both play the piano, among other instruments, and sing. Brother Buddy is the pastor of the Baptist Tabernacle in Buchanan where he has served for 15 plus years since being called into the ministry in 1967. Brother Buddy soon will celebrate his 40th year as a pastor. During the past 40 years, he has pastored numerous baptist churches including Mt. Vernon, Poplar Springs, Corinth in Bowdon, Antioch in Whitesburg and Riverside in Tallapoosa. Brother Buddy enjoys serving the Lord, ministring to families, playing Golf and Fishing.
James Edward Carden

Mr. Carden is a Haralson County native and lives in Tallapoosa with his wife, Betty Ann. Mr. Carden is an United States Army Veteran; a member of the Lions Club of Tallapoosa and the Douglas County Jaycees. Mr. and Mrs. Carden attend the First Baptist Church of Tallapoosa. Mr. Carden enjoys Hunting, Fishing and an occasional round of Golf. Mr. Carden has been with Hightower's in Douglasville and Bremen and Martin & Hightower in Carrollton since 1996. Mr. and Mrs. Carden work visitations in Douglasville. They enjoy serving families and ministering to their needs.
Reverend Woodrow Hudson

Woodrow is a native of Mobile, Alabama and has lived in the Carrollton area for 17 years with his wife Betty (Coleman). The Hudson's have 3 children and 1 granddaughter. Woodrow graduated from Vigor High School in Alabama in 1957 and Wm. Carey in 1962. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Emory University Candler School of Theology and his Doctorate from Southern Seminary. He and Betty are members of the Whitesburg Baptist Church. Woodrow is a member of the Carroll County Sertoma Club. He is International Vice President and serves on the Board for HeartBound Prison Ministries. He enjoys reading, running and playing golf. Woodrow ran the Peachtree Road Race for 25 straight years. He served as Pastor for 4 different Baptist Churches for 32 years. He was Director of Chaplaincy Services for the Georgia Department of Corrections for 12 years. He has visited the Phillipines, India and South Korea on Mission Trips. Woodrow serves as the Chaplain for Hightower Funeral Homes and Martin-Hightower Funeral Homes.
Joan Edwards

Joan is a native of Buchanan and is a graduate of Buchanan High School. She was Deputy Clerk for the Haralson County Superior Court from 1973 until 1986. In 1987 Joan began her 12-year tenure with the Haralson County Department of Family and Children Services. Joan attends church and Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Bremen. Joan truly enjoys people and ministering to those in need. Her compassionate and caring spirit is exhibited to each family she serves. Joan is interested in people, politics and certainly, good food. Cooking, shopping and fishing are all hobbies Joan enjoys. Joan has three children, Stephen P. and John S. Edwards and Neva C. Owens.
